Do you have difficulty sleeping? Is your mind frequently racing? Would you like to increase your appreciation of daily life?
Chances are, you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions. The truth is, meditation is for everyone. We can all benefit from taking a few moments to quiet the mind and simply breathe.
Like all things, meditation takes practice and time, so be gentle with yourself. Allow your mind to wander and then invite it back in. Know that committing a period of your day to yourself is enough.
Over time you will notice greater ability to calm the mind when you may feel flooded with thoughts. With the slowing of the mind comes the deeper awareness of the world around you and welcoming mindfulness (see Mindfulness Meditation blog post). At the end of the day your mind can clear more naturally and with ease.
Try setting a timer for 5 minutes of your day now. Simply to sit and breathe. Know that this is enough.
